But there are also those who are watching from the sidelines and, of course, they think the complete opposite.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the numbers we can read and interpret and beyond the calculations that indicate the number of users that could enter the crypto ecosystem through this niche, a fact that serves as an argument for the group that considers that the fever is just beginning,\u00a0<strong>is the amount of development behind each project related to NFT.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In this sense, today I will focus on the task of answering the question \u201cWhat is<strong>\u00a0Enjin Coin<\/strong>? Along the way, I will analyze the functionality of the so-called \u201c<strong>Cryptocurrency of virtual goods<\/strong>\u201d and the importance of the platform that gave birth to it and was baptized with the same name, \u201c<strong>Enjin Platform<\/strong>\u201c.<\/p>\n<div class=\"is-divider divider clearfix\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"is-divider divider clearfix\"><\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"a_brief_history_of_enjin_coin\"><\/span><strong>A Brief History of Enjin Coin<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As I commented in the article \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitnovo.com\/blog\/en\/is-it-possible-to-mine-enjin-coin\/\">Is it possible to mine Enjin Coin?<\/a>\u201c, in order to talk about this cryptocurrency,\u00a0<strong>it is necessary to soak ourselves in the context in which it was born, to understand its functionality and potential.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For those who did not read the previous article, I will briefly review the points necessary to understand this currency.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"enjin_platform\"><\/span><strong>Enjin Platform<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>It is the largest platform dedicated to the creation and growth of video game communities in the world<\/strong>. The numbers indicate that more than 20 million players use it every day and that the number of communities created on Enjin exceeds 250 thousand. Of course,\u00a0<strong>it is not difficult to identify the potential.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Its creators, Maxim Blagov and Witek Radomski, launched the platform in 2009. It was Witek who started researching blockchain technology and it was the Ethereum network that gained all his attention.<\/p>\n<p>Already with a successful platform, Witek thought that\u00a0<strong>Ejin\u2019s next steps were to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Enable users to create their own\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitnovo.com\/blog\/en\/what-is-an-erc-721-token\/\">NFTs<\/a>\u00a0that can be used in video games.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Create a platform for trading these NFTs<\/strong><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>To give birth to an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitnovo.com\/blog\/en\/what-is-an-erc-20-token\/\">ERC-20<\/a>\u00a0token to serve as an exchange currency.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>His need to go beyond what was planned led him to create a new standard in Ethereum the ERC-1155,\u00a0<\/strong>which allows to create not only non-fungible tokens, but also fungible tokens.<\/p>\n<div class=\"is-divider divider clearfix\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"is-divider divider clearfix\"><\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"now_what_is_enjin_coin\"><\/span><strong>Now, what is Enjin Coin?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Enjin Coin, identified with the ticker ENJ, is basically the exchange currency of the Enjin platform. Every NFT that is created in order to be used in the games, whose communities are in Enjin, can be traded by means of ENJ.<br \/>\nIn addition, this token has another important function. In the jargon of the crypto ecosystem, the creation of NFT is called \u201cminting\u201d, this action is, in short, to make a call to a function of a \u201cSmart Contract\u201d to create an NFT. Once this is understood, you can imagine that \u201cminifying\u201d an NFT has its cost. Thus, the second function of ENJ is to serve as a means of payment for \u201cmining\u201d NFTs within the Enjin Platform.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Going back to the nature of Enjin Coin, it is important to clarify that it is an\u00a0<strong>ERC-20<\/strong>\u00a0token that runs over the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitnovo.com\/blog\/en\/what-is-ethereum-eth-and-how-does-it-work\/\">Ethereum<\/a>\u00a0network. As I wrote in the previous article, the salient feature of this token is that its creation is done through\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitnovo.com\/blog\/en\/what-is-proof-of-work-the-bitcoin-consensus-protocol\/\">Proof of Work<\/a>\u00a0consensus.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"enjin_coin_tokenomics\"><\/span><strong>Enjin Coin Tokenomics<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>This point of\u00a0<strong>ENJ<\/strong>\u00a0is interesting, since they aim to be a currency that eradicates inflation at a stroke from its conception. I<strong>ts total supply is 1,000,000,000,000 tokens, a number we are about to reach, and once the last ENJ is mined, a new one will never be created again.<\/strong>\u00a0The speculation of its fans is that the use of ENJ will grow over time becoming a scarce commodity and, therefore, its price will increase over time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ENJ, as of this writing, shows a price of US$1.59. The following tools stand out:<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Tools for the creation and management of NFT<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Through them, developers interested in the gaming world\u00a0<strong>can develop NFTs that may or may not be used in the game<\/strong>. An example of an NFT that is not intended to be an in-game object is the collaboration between a developer and an artist to generate a collection of NFTs that collectors can acquire through ENJ.<\/p>\n<p>This is where\u00a0<strong>ENJ tokenomics come into play, since every time NFTs are \u201cmined\u201d the ENJs used for this purpose are \u201cburned\u201d or eliminated, generating a shortage of ENJs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><strong>SDKs available in different programming languages<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Some examples of the\u00a0<strong>languages<\/strong>, in which\u00a0<strong>Enjin\u2019s SDKs were created, are C#, C++, Unity, Godot and Java<\/strong>. Using them is as simple for a developer as going to their\u00a0<strong>GitHub<\/strong>\u00a0and downloading them.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Distribution via QR<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Enjin developed a tool called\u00a0<strong>Enjin Beam<\/strong>, which allows\u00a0<strong>those who create NFTs to distribute them to users by scanning a QR code.<\/strong>\u00a0This method simplifies the usually complex distribution of NFTs.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"tools_for_players\"><\/span><strong>Tools for players<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Beyond the facilities to create and grow communities in\u00a0<strong>Enjin, the players or users<\/strong>\u00a0of the platform have certain\u00a0<strong>tools related to Enjin Coin<\/strong>\u00a0that facilitate their daily life with the application.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>NFT Market<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>It is an online marketplace with\u00a0<strong>more than 10 million non-fungible tokens<\/strong>\u00a0waiting to be discovered. From this connection with users and paying attention to their comments and complaints,\u00a0<strong>they detected the biggest barrier to entry that Enjin presents and it is, once again, the high fees of the Ethereum network.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>True to their philosophy of not depending on the timing of others and innovating as much as possible, they did not sit back and wait for the release of ETH 2.0,\u00a0<strong>but worked on their own solution known as Efinity.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However, this is not the only problem that Enjin\u2019s team noticed. The\u00a0<strong>first<\/strong>\u00a0of the problems they noticed is that\u00a0<strong>there is no blockchain created<\/strong>\u00a0exclusively for the purpose of meeting exclusive conditions for the proper functioning of NFTs. While\u00a0<strong>the second problem<\/strong>, has to do with the method chosen to give birth to\u00a0<strong>ENJ, Proof of Work<\/strong>. According to the Enjin team, with this block creation mechanism,\u00a0<strong>the miners win but not the users<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The solution to all these problems has only one name:\u00a0<strong>Efinity.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"what_is_efinity\"><\/span><strong>What is Efinity?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Simply put,\u00a0<strong>Efinity, will be a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitnovo.com\/blog\/en\/what-is-polkadot-dot\/\">Polkadot<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitnovo.com\/blog\/en\/what-is-a-parachain-and-how-does-it-work\/\">parachain<\/a><\/strong>, which will allow Enjin users to operate within a chain that will solve problems that the blockchain world faces today:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Interoperability<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Scalability<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Speed<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Security<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Privacy<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Development<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Governance<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Polkadot\u00a0<\/strong>has chosen a different approach than\u00a0<strong>Ethereum<\/strong>. In a nutshell we can say that\u00a0<strong>ETH 2.0<\/strong>, at its endpoint, will bring what we call \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitnovo.com\/blog\/en\/what-is-third-generation-blockchain\/\">sharding<\/a>\u201c.\u00a0<strong>Sharding will allow to split the main Ethereum chain into several sub-chains that will process specific issues<\/strong>. So there may be one chain to process ETH staking, another to process transactions, another to host Smart Contracts and so on.<\/p>\n<p>Each \u201cshard\u201d or \u201csubchain\u201d\u00a0<strong>is called Parachain and these are completely customizable<\/strong>. Polkadot provides the infrastructure to set up this chain and\u00a0<strong>whoever builds on it chooses whether to rely on the security of the main chain or to manage it himself, the same situation<\/strong>\u00a0applies for example to the network validators, the currency to pay the fees, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Finity will bring new possibilities to users such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>The interoperability Polkadot offers,<\/strong>\u00a0easy connection with other networks<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>The possibility of setting up a node, staking ENJ and validating transactions,\u00a0<\/strong>receiving EFI, the Efinity token, as a reward.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Extremely low-cost transactions<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>A network created exclusively for hosting NFTs<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a final detail of this project,\u00a0<strong>the Enjin team is working on a new token standard for the Polkadot chain to be called \u201cParatoken\u201d<\/strong>. Given the background, less we could not expect from this ambitious team.<\/p>\n<div class=\"is-divider divider clearfix\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"is-divider divider clearfix\"><\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"enjins_future\"><\/span><strong>Enjin\u2019s future<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Imagining the future of Enjin, both its platform and its token, can generate more than just a smile.
