Let\u2019s talk about its structure and architecture<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"polygon_platform_structure\"><\/span><b>Polygon Platform Structure<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Unlike the proof of work consensus protocol,\u00a0<strong>Polygon uses the proof of stake (PoS) mechanism that Ethereum 2.0 plans to employ.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition to the consensus mechanism, Polygon uses an architecture\u00a0<strong>popularized by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitnovo.com\/blog\/en\/what-is-cosmos-atom-the-key-to-interoperability\/\">Cosmos<\/a>, called Heimdall.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Unlike traditional Proof of Stake blockchains,<strong>\u00a0Heimdall randomly chooses the miners who are to be the block producers<\/strong>\u00a0from among the validators who are present at the network\u2019s proof of stake.<\/p>\n<p>Certainly, this dual consensus architecture\u00a0<strong>allows decentralization with high transaction throughput<\/strong>, resulting in network scalability. On a single sidechain,\u00a0<strong>it has been seen to achieve 7000 transactions per second (TPS).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But how does it achieve this?
