It has also been characterized by a large volume of famous philosophers such as Socrates or Pythagoras.<\/p>\n<p>However, what has been most interesting and what has persisted the most in history, have been his political concepts about democracy and cities. Now, what does all this have to do with the world of cryptos?<\/p>\n<p>Precisely, today we will talk about Kleros, an idea that has its roots in Greek justice. In addition,\u00a0<strong>it seeks to combine physical courts and tribunals with the decentralized scenario of cryptocurrencies. Let\u2019s see what it\u2019s all about!<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"what_is_kleros_pnk_lets_talk_about_its_origin_and_definition\"><\/span>What is Kleros (PNK)? Let\u2019s talk about its origin and definition<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Kleros, was founded as Coop\u00e9rative Kleros in 2017 in France by Federico Ast and Cl\u00e9ment Lesaege.\u00a0<strong>It can be conceptualized as an online dispute resolution protocol that uses the Ethereum\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitnovo.com\/blog\/en\/what-is-blockchain-and-how-does-it-work\/\">blockchain<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitnovo.com\/blog\/en\/what-is-a-smart-contract\/\">smart contracts<\/a>\u00a0to resolve disagreements fairly.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In other words,<strong>\u00a0it acts as a decentralized third party that adjudicates disputes in all types of contracts<\/strong>\u00a0in a fast, cost-effective and reliable manner.<\/p>\n<p>Historically, Kleros comes from a democratic method of ancient Greece,\u00a0<strong>called kleroterion. This method was used to randomly select people who would make decisions in the political life of the city.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For this purpose, they made use of stone blocks with grooves,\u00a0<strong>in which bronze or wooden plaques, known as pinakion, were inserted with the names of all the citizens of Greece.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, by means of a die,\u00a0<strong>the owner of the pinakakion that would be selected for some position was decided<\/strong>. This mechanism is similar to a bingo but made of stone and much more primitive, although quite functional.<\/p>\n<p>From here, we can intuit that its operation will be quite similar, but with the difference that<strong>\u00a0it uses\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitnovo.com\/blog\/en\/what-is-a-dapp\/\">decentralized applications<\/a>\u00a0and economic incentives to reach a solution.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"how_does_it_work\"><\/span>How does it work?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To understand how it works, it is necessary to start from two concepts:<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"pinakion_token_pnk\"><\/span><b>Pinakion Token (PNK)<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Pinakion or PNK is a type of\u00a0ERC20\u00a0token, specific to this project.\u00a0<\/strong>And, yes, as you can imagine, it came from the name of the copper or wooden plates that were used in the kleroterion.<\/p>\n<p>This token has two functions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Prevent Sybil type attacks\u00a0<\/strong>by paying a fee to participate in a court.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Encourage jurors to vote correctly,<\/strong>\u00a0as each vote has a cost.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"the_courts_of_kleros\"><\/span><b>The courts of Kleros<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Through a contract that establishes clauses,\u00a0<\/strong>such as that any dispute will be arbitrated by Kleros and that Kleros is a voluntary system,\u00a0<strong>the courts that will take care of this disagreement are determined.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kleros\u2019 court system starts with a general court,<\/strong>\u00a0similar to the Spanish general court,\u00a0<strong>which subdivides to specialize in three specific areas of dispute:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Electronic commerce,\u00a0<\/strong>where they deal with shipping, international shipping, and freelance (independent work). In this court, for example, they may take a credit card fraud case.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Transportation,\u00a0<\/strong>which includes air, sea and land transportation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Insurance,\u00a0<\/strong>which covers automobile insurance, home insurance and commercial insurance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Each court has a fee value that is paid in crypto\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitnovo.com\/blog\/en\/what-is-ethereum-eth-and-how-does-it-work\/\">Ether (ETH)<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>the currency of the Ethereum blockchain.
